Objective: Burn patients who admitted to our center, were analyzed according to age range causes of burns.

Material and methods: Between January 2010-January 2013, 145 children patiens received treatment in our burn center.

Results: Twenty-nine patients were between group of 0-1 age, 67 patients were group of 1-3 ages, 24 patiens were between 3-7 ages and 25 patients were group of 7-18 ages (table 1). The smallest patient in 2. mounts of her life. The biggest patient was 17 years old. When we categorize cause of burns; 100 patients scalding with hot liquids,13 patients with fire and flame, 9 patient with hot tea, 7 patients with hot milk, 3 patients with hot oil, 2 patients with hot soup, 2 patients were falling to boiler of hot molasses and 9 patients’s causes of burns were the others (Stove, lightning, natural gas, helium, hot gel, blow dryer…)

Conclusion Take precautions in burns, as important as, treatment of burns. There are many different causes of burning, according to age groups. We have to know cause of burns for all age groups. This is the first condition of protect from burns.

Amaç: Yanık merkezimize başvuran olgularının, yaş aralıklarına göre yanık nedenleri incelendi.

Gereç ve Yöntem: Ocak 2010 - Ocak 2013 arasında yanık merkezimizde yatırılarak takip ve tedavi edilen çocuk yaş grubundaki 145 hastada, yaş gruplarına göre yanığa yol açan etkenler geriye dönük olarak incelendi.

 Bulgular: Yüzkırkbeş çocuk hastanın, 29’u 0-1 yaş grubunda, 67 hasta 1-3 yaş grubunda, 24 hasta 3-7 yaş grubunda ve 25 hasta 7-18 yaş arasında saptandı (Tablo 1). En küçük hasta 2 aylık, en büyük 17 yaşında idi. Yüz hasta sıcak sıvı ile haşlanma, 13 hasta alev-ateşle, 9’u çay ile 7’si süt ile 3’ü yağ ile 2’si çorba ile 2 hasta pekmez kazanına düşme sonucu ve 9’u diğer nedenler ile ( soba, yıldırım, muhallebi, ısıtıcı jel, helyum gazı, doğal gaz ve fön makinesi) yanmıştı.

Tartışma: Yanıkta tedavi kadar önlem almak da önemlidir. Yaş gruplarına göre yanık etkenleri de değişmektedir. Bu etkenleri bilmek ve korunmak önlem almanın ilk şartıdır.
