Introduction: Children and elders are at greater risks for the accidents occurred at home. Therefore, taking measures for prevention of home accidents are very important.

Aim:This study was planned in order to determine the home injury risks of families with children 0-6 years old.

Method:This study was conducted in family health center number 5 at the district of Ödemiş in province of İzmir. The sample of the study consisted of the families (n=21) with children 0-6 years old (n=350) registered in family physician, and accepting to participate in the study October 2011 to March 2012 (6 months). It was determined that families have 29 children in the group of 0-6 years old. Families were visited two times between the dates of October 2011 and March 2012 (6 months). After prevention was determined and families were informed about measures during the first visit, the second family home visits were held one month later. Taking measures were evaluated based on information provided by the first home visit. Data of the study were collected by using the questionnaire developed by researchers based on literature, and by the first and second family home visit. The questionnaire consisted of socio-demographic data (16 questions) and Home Safety Checklist (40 items). Data were collected from mothers by face to face interview technique, and from observations during the home visits.

Results:It was found in the first family home visit that kitchen and living room are two areas of highest risk. It was observed that the risks identified for kitchen, bathroom, living room and bedroom in the first visit decreased statically significant in the second visit after providing education for family (p<0.05).

Conclusion:It was shown that providing education about home accidents for family with 0-6 years old children is effective to reduce the risk of home accidents. It can be suggested that nurses should insure awareness for family by health education, and home visit to places where home accidents frequently occurs.

Giriş:Ev kazaları çocuklar ve yaşlılar için daha fazla risk oluşturmaktadır. Bu nedenle ev kazalarının önlenmesi için evde önlemlerin alınmasının önemli bir yeri vardır.

Amaç:Çalışma 0-6 yaş çocuğu olan ailelerin evlerdeki yaralanma risklerinin belirlenmesi ve önlemlerin alınması amacıyla planlanmıştır.

Gereç-Yöntem:Araştırma İzmir ili Ödemiş ilçesi 5 nolu aile sağlığı merkezinde yapılmıştır. Araştırmanın örneklemini rastgele örnekleme yöntemi ile seçilen hekime bağlı 0-6 yaş çocuğu olan (n=350), Ekim 2011- Mart 2012 (6 ay) tarihleri arasında araştırmaya katılmayı kabul eden aileler (n=21) oluşturmuştur. Ailelerin 0-6 yaş grubunda 29 çocuğu olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Aileler Ekim 2011- Mart 2012 (6 ay) tarihleri arasında 2 defa olmak üzere ziyaret edilmiştir. İlk ziyarette riskler belirlenmiş önlemler konusunda aile bilgilendirilmiş ve evlere 1 ay sonra ikinci ziyaret yapılmıştır. İkinci ziyarette verilen bilgiler doğrultusunda alınan önlemler değerlendirilmiştir. Araştırmanın verileri araştırmacılar tarafından literatür doğrultusunda geliştirilen soru formu ile birinci ve ikinci ziyarette toplanmıştır. Soru formu sosyodemografik veriler (16 soru) ve Ev Güvenlik Kontrol Listesi’nden (40 madde) oluşmuştur. Veriler annelerden yüz yüze görüşme yöntemi ve evlerden gözlem yoluyla toplanmıştır.

Bulgular: Evlere yapılanilkziyarette evin en riskli 2 alanının mutfak ve oturma odası olduğu bulunmuştur. Birinci ziyarette evlerin mutfak, banyo, oturma odası, yatak odası için belirlenen risklerin verilen eğitimle 2. ziyarette istatistiksel açıdan anlamlı derecede azaldığı saptanmıştır (p<0.05).

Sonuç ve Öneriler:Sonuç olarak 0-6 yaş grubu çocuğu olan ailelere ev kazalarına yönelik verilen eğitimin evlerdeki kaza risklerini azaltmada etkili olduğu görülmüştür. Çocukluk dönemi ev kazalarının sık görüldüğü bölgelerde hemşirelerin ev ziyareti ve sağlık eğitimi yoluyla aileleri bu konuda bilinçlendirmeleri önerilir.
