STANDARD NURSING CARE PLANNING OF A BABY WITH ESOPHAGEAL ATRESIA AND ACCOMPAYING ANOMALIES

Esophageal atresia is a congenital disease that concern both esophagus and trachea. Abnormal formation of esophagus causes failure in the passage of food from pharynx to the stomach. In esophagial atresia, improperly formed part of esophagus is a blunt cavity. The case was a newborn baby who was reffered to the pediatric surgery department of our hospital with the diagnosis of esophageal atresia. The diagnose was made with a barium film taken after the recognization of failure in the transition of the nasogastric catheter in first physical examination. Vertebral and renal defects were detected as accompanying anomalies. Esophagogastric anostomosis, jejenostomy and gastrostomy surgeries were performed. The case was evaluated and classified according to Nanda taxonomy of nursing and discharged with planing of family-centered standard nursing interventions.
