Investigation of the first implementations of the parents whose children had an accident

Introduction: Accidents hold an important part in health problems. The age groups inclined to have accidents are the children and the elderly. The first implementations to apply when faced with an accident is very important in prevention of death and disablement. Aim: This study was conducted to investigate the first implementations of the parents whose children had an accident. Metod: This descriptive study was held in a university hospital's pediatric surgery clinic from 01.01.2015 to 31.05.2015. The data was collected with a face to face interview with the parents of the children who had an accident and is in a hospital stay by using a 26 questioned survey prepared by the investigators. The data was analyzed in computer context. Counts and percentages were used in the evaluation of the data. Findings: It was seen that the 40.7% of the parents involved in the investigation were aged between 26 and 33. It was found out that 62.0% of the children involved had burns, 35.2% of the children had their accident in the evening, 38.9% of the children were alone during the time of the accident and it was seen that in 67.6% of the cases it was their mother who had applied the first aid implementations. It was noted that most of the parents told that they had learned the first aid implementations from their own parents. It was seen that 62.0% of the parents immediately applied to a heath facility right after their child had the accident. Conclusion: It was found out that children frequently had accidents, and in a few number of them false first aid implantations were applied.
