Effects of HD endoscopic systems on the quality of surgery and comfort

Introduction: Endoscopic/laparoscopic surgeries have been performing mostly with HD monitoring systems.  We aimed to evaluate the role of HD systems and compare them with conventional monitoring by means of a survey among pediatric surgeons.

 Material and Methods: A survey containing eight questions has been sent to some senior pediatric surgeons by e-mail who have used both conventional and HD monitors. The survey evaluated the comfort of surgery, ease of assistance, complications, time of surgery, differentiation capacity of tissues and ergonomics.

 Results: Twelve pediatric surgeons responded the questions. 91.67% of responders strongly agree that HD systems increase the comfort of surgery, differentiation of the tissues. The remaining responders agree the same issue. 83.33% agree or strongly agree that HD systems ease the surgery and decrease the complication rate. Only half of the responders agree ergonomic benefits of HD systems and some operations are only possible by HD systems.

 Conclusions: HD systems are beneficial for the comfort of surgery and differentiations of tissues. HD systems’ role on complications and ergonomics are not clear.

Giriş: Endoskopik/laparoskopik ameliyatlarda son yıllarda yüksek çözünürlüklü (HD) görüntüleme sistemleri tercih edilmektedir. HD sistemler ile normal çözünürlüklü sistemleri karşılaştırmak amacıyla bir anket çalışması düzenlendi.

 Gereç ve Yöntem: Hem HD hem de normal çözünürlüklü görüntüleme sistemlerini kullandıkları bilinen kıdemli çocuk cerrahlarına sekiz sorudan oluşan değerlendirme anketi e-posta ile gönderildi. Anket soruları ile HD sistemlerin; ameliyat konforu, asistans kolaylığı, komplikasyonlar, ameliyat süresi, doku ayrımı, ameliyat zorluğu ve ergonomi üzerine etkileri sorgulandı.

 Bulgular: Oniki çocuk cerrahı ankete yanıt verdi. Bunların %91,67’si HD sistemlerin ameliyat konforunu arttırdığı ve dokuların ayrımını daha iyi yaptıkları önermelerine kesinlikle katıldığını, kalanların da bunlara katıldığını bildirdi. Deneklerin %83,33’ü HD sistemlerin asistansı kolaylaştırdığına ve komplikasyonları azalttığına kesinlikle katılıyor ya da katılıyordu. Deneklerin yalnızca yarısı  daha iyi ergonomi sağladığını düşünüyordu. Benzer şekilde, sadece yarısı bazı ameliyatların HD sistemler olmadan yapılamayacağını düşünüyordu.

 Sonuçlar: HD görüntüleme sistemleri, özellikle ameliyat konforunu arttırmada ve doku ayrımını kolaylaştırmakta çok yararlıdır. Komplikasyonlar ve ergonomi konusunda ise yararları belirgin değildir.
