Objective: Some standards and tables were developed to determin the average and ranges for various organs. In terms of cosmetic and functional (urinary and sexual) normal length and diameter of penis is important. The aim of this study is to determin the length and radius of the penis and to suggest new measurement method for measurement.

Method: The study included 101 mature and 19 late preterm (34-37 weeks gestation)

infants. A total of 120 uncircumcised male infants evaluated between May 2013 and November 2013. To determine the penis length, the distance between the radix and glans of the penis was performed using a digital compass. The radius of the penis were measured also by using digital compass, in point of thickest region in the middle part of the penis.

Results: The data were analyzed with the SPSS 20.0. For late preterm infants average penis length was 2.81 cm (2-3,5 cm) and the diameter of the penis 1.43 cm For term infants average penis length was 3.19 cm (2-4 cm) and the diameter of the penis 1.95 cm.

Conclusion: In this study we found the average of penis length for neonates 3.19 cm and for late preterm newborns 2.81 cm. When our results compared with similar studies results, differences in mean values were found. One reason for this difference is the use of different methods. We used digital compass in our study, so made more sensitiv measurements. In addition, in this study we revealed satandart of late preterm newborn.

Amaç: Çeşitli organlar için bir çok ortalama ve aralıkları belirleyen standartlar ve tablolar geliştirilmiştir. Normal uzunluk ve çapa sahip penis kozmetik ve fonksiyonel (idrar ve cinsel) açıdan öneme sahiptir. Bu çalışmanın amacı term ve geç preterm yenidoğan bebeklerin penis uzunluğunun ve penis yarıçapının belirlenmesi ve bunun için yeni ölçüm metodu önerilmesidir.

Metot: Çalışmaya toplam 101 matür, 19 geç prematür (34-37 gebelik haftasında doğan) bebek dahil edildi. Mayıs 2013 ile Kasım 2013 tarihleri arasında toplam 120 sünnetsiz yenidoğan erkek bebekte penis uzunluğu penis gerdirilerek ölçüldü. Penis kökü ile penis ucu arasında kalan mesafe dijital kumpas yardımı ile ölçülerek değerler kaydedildi. Penis kalınlığı yine dijital kumpas yardımıyla penisin en kalın yeri olan orta kısmından yarıçapı ölçülerek kaydedildi.

Bulgular: Ölçülen antropometrik değerler SPSS 20 programı ile analiz edildi. Penis uzunluğu term bebeklerde ortalama 3.19 cm (2-4 cm) (standart sapma 0.37), penis yarı çapı ise 1.95cm (standart sapma 0.44), geç preterm bebeklerde penis uzunluğu 2.81cm (2-3.5 cm) (standart sapma 0.38) ve penis çapı 1.43cm (standart sapma 0.63) olarak bulundu.

Sonuç: Farklı yaşlarda genital normal standartların oluşturulmuş olması patolojiye yönelik ipuçlarını tanımlamakta önemlidir. Çalışmada term yenidoğanların ortalama penis uzunluğu 3.19 cm, geç preterm yenidoğanların penis uzunluğu 2.81 cm olarak saptanmıştır. Benzer çalışmalarla karşılaştırıldığında ortalama değerlerde farklılıklar olduğu görülmüştür. Bu farkın bir nedeni de farklı yöntemler kullanılmasıdır. Biz çalışmamızda dijital kumpas kullanarak daha hassas veriler elde ettik. Ayrıca bu çalışmada geç preterm yenidoğan bebeklerin de antropometrik ölçümleri yapılarak satandartları saptandı. Preterm bebeklerin vücut ölçülerinin daha küçük olduğu dikkate alınırsa ölçümlerinin dijital kumpasla yapılması daha net sonuçlar verecektir.
