Bronchopleural and broncho-cutaneous fistulas are a serious complication that can occur after a gunshot wound. Closing the air leak and treating the infection is essential for the fistula to heal. Initial treatment can usually proceed along the standard line, but if the fistula persists, treatment can become complicated. In this study, treatment and management of a persistent broncho-cutaneous fistula following a gunshot injury were evaluated.
As a result, antibiotherapy, occlusion of the fistula and supporting it with free flaps is a preferable method in the treatment of bronchocutaneous fistulas that may occur due to different reasons.
