Omental cyst- clinical experience in tertiary care hospital.

Background
Omental cysts are rare intraabdominal cyst and predominantly diagnosed after infancy, usually after age of 10 years. Omental cysts are often misdiagnosed for tubercular ascites or as an incidental finding for different pathology. Diagnosis is usually made intra-operatively because of varied presentation. This manuscript deals with feature which will help to make preoperative diagnosis.
Material & Methods
All case of large intra-abdominal cyst managed during January 2016 to December 2023 were reviewed using the hospital electronic system, operative notes and departmental records. All suspected cases of omental cysts were included in the study. Demographic data, clinical feature and radiological investigation wee analysed.
Result
A total of 5 cases were included in the study with age ranged from 3 months to 7 years. Main complaint was abdominal distension. 2 patients presented with inguinal hernia.
Conclusion
Omental cysts are rare disorder needs which can be diagnosed easily preoperatively if clinician has high index of suspicion.
