Artificial Intelligence and Pediatric Surgery: A Way Forward

Introduction: Artificial intelligence (AI) is rapidly changing the landscape of medical education and is already in practice in the field of medical diagnostics and imaging analysis. The various fields of AI especially machine learning and applications to predictive analytics and decision support in surgery, computer vision and image analysis in preoperative planning, image segmentation, surgical navigation, and finally, natural language processing help in expediting clinical documentation, defining clinical indications, quality improvement, carrying research, and data extraction.
Objective of this presentation is :
1. To highlight the applications of AI in Pediatric surgery, along with covering its evolution, current state, and promising future.
2. To familiarize the pediatric surgeons with the use of AI and highlight the ongoing advancements and challenges in its adoption, including data privacy, regulatory considerations, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
Outcome: We hope this presentation serves as a comprehensive guide to AI's transformative influence on surgery, demonstrating its potential to enhance pediatric surgical patient outcomes, improve precision, and usher in a new era of surgical excellence.
