Aim: The Tubularized Incised Plate Urethroplasty(TIPU) technique is a preferred alternative for distal hypospadias repair. The use of a dartos flap is contraversial, with varing results. In this study we aimed to study the effect of dartos flaps on complication rates for hypospadias patients trated with TIPU.

Materials and Method: The files of all patients who underwent TIPU for hypospadias repair at our clinic from January 2008 to January 2012 were retrospectively reviewed. The patients were seperated into two groups, those who received a Dartos flap and those who did not. The patients’ age at operation, follow up time, and postoperative complications were reviewed.

Results: TIPU was performed on 189 patients. However, surgical details of eleven patients’ were unavailable and were therefore removed from the study. Patient data is presented in Table 1.

Conclusion: Our data shows that there is no statistically significant change in complication rates when a Dartos flap is used in TIPU repair for hypospadias.

Amaç: Distal hipospadiasın tedavisinde Tubularized Incised Plate Urethroplasty (TIPU) tekniği tercih edilmektedir. Dartos flep kullanımı tartışmalıdır ve değişken sonuçlar bildirilmiştir.  Bu çalışmada, TIPU yöntemi ile cerrahisi yapılan ve dartos flep kullanılan hastalarda flep kullanmanın komplikasyon oranı üzerine etkisini araştırmayı planladık.

Materyal ve Metod: Hipospadias nedeniyle Ocak 2008 – Ocak 2013 arasında TIPU geçiren distal hipospadiaslı hastaların dosyaları retrospektif olarak tarandı. Hastalar Dartos flepi kullanılan ve kullanılmayan diye iki gruba ayrıldı. Hastaların ameliyattaki yaşı, takip süresi ve postoperatif komplikasyonları not edildi.

Bulgular: TIPU 189 hastada kullanıldı. On bir hastanın dosyası bulunamadığından çalışmaya dahil edilmedi. Bulgular Tablo 1’de gösterilmiştir.

Sonuç: Verilerimiz Dartos flebi kullanmanın TIPU onarımı yapılan distal hipospadiaslı hastalarda anlamlı bir etkisinin olmadığını göstermektedir.
