Aim: Subureteric injection is a commonly used procedure for the treatment of vesicoureteral reflux (VUR). Our aim in this study was to evaluate the early results of patients treated with subureteric injection for VUR in our institute.

Material - Method: Fifty one patients receiving subureteric injections for VUR from January 2011 to January 2013 were included in the study. Their patient files were retrospectively reviewed and patient age and gender plus VCUG results before and after subureteric injection were obtained.

Results: Fifty one patients (25 male and 39 female, average age 4.8 year) received a total of 76 units of subureteric injection. Average follow up time was 12.5 months. Six patients had a duplicating collecting system. There was grade 1 reflux in 14.7% (n=11), grade 2 in 22.7% (n=17), grade 3 in 33.3% (n=25), grade 4 in 24.0% (n=18) and grade 5 in 5.3% (n=4) of patients. The success rate after the first injection was 60.0% and 77.3% after the second injection. Four patients had open surgery after failure of subureteric injection.

Conclusion: Subureteric injection is a easy and  safe treatment method for VUR and its use has shown successful results.

Amaç: Vezikoüreteral reflüde subüreterik enjeksiyon sık uygulanan bir yöntemdir. Bu çalışmada amacımız kliniğimizde subüreterik enjeksiyon uygulanan hastalarımızda takip sonuçlarımızı incelemektir.

Materyal – Metod: Ocak 2011 ile Ocak 2013 tarihleri arasında kliniğimizde vezikoüreteral reflü tanısı nedeniyle subüreterik enjeksiyon yapılan 51 hastanın dosyaları retrospektif olarak değerlendirilerek hastaların yaşları, cinsiyetleri, enjeksiyon öncesi ve 3 ay sonrası VCUG ile takip süreleri not edildi. Subüreterik enjeksiyon sonrası VUR’u tamamen geçen veya yüksek dereceli olup (3 ve üstü) grade 1’e gerileyen hastalar başarılı olarak değerlendirildi.

Bulgular: Toplam 51  hastaya (76 üniteye) subüreterik enjeksiyon uygulandı. Hastaların 25’I erkek, 39’u kızdı. Yaş ortalaması 4.8 yıl idi. Ortalama takip süresi 12.5 ay idi. Altı hastada ek anomali olarak çift toplayıcı system mevcuttu. Üreterlerin %14.7’si (n=11) grade 1, %22.7’si (n=17) grade 2, %33.3’ü (n=25) grade 3, %24.0’I (n=18) grade 4 ve %5.3’ünde (n=4) grade 5 reflü mevcuttu.İlk subüreterik enjeksiyon sonrası başarı oranı %60.0 iken, ikinci enkeksiyon sonrası başarı oranı %76.0 olarak saptandı. VUR devam eden hastaların 4’ünde açık cerrahi uygulanmıştır.

Sonuç: Subüreterik enjeksiyon basitçe uygulanabilen güvenli bir yöntemdir. Vezikoüreteral reflüde dekstranomer/hyaluronic asid (Dexell) uygulaması başarılı sonuçlar vermektedir.
