Aim:

Undescended testis (IT) is the most common congenital pathology of the genitourinary system in boys. One year old

1-2% of men have undescended testes. Unpalpable testicular events account for approximately 20% of undescended testes

creates. Pediatric Surgery and Pediatric Urology are directed by ultrasonographic examination from pediatric or other branches. This study aimed to discuss whether ultrasonographic examination of undescended testis has preceded the physical examination method.

Method:

Between January 2016 and January 2017, records were retrospectively scanned and records of patients undergoing orchiopexy procedure were recorded on the hospital patient data system of patients consulted with undescended testis pre-diagnosis. Nonpalpabl and vanishing testis were not included in the study.

Results:

In the last year 84 cases of our clinic were consulted with İT suspicion. 14 cases were in the interval of 20 days-12 years and 70 cases were in the neonatal period. Ultrasonographic examination of the entire cases reported that the testes were either high-stained or inguinal canal placement. Twelve cases were diagnosed as having IC and unilateral orchiopexy was performed. 3 cases were bilateral orchiopexy. 9 cases were diagnosed with retractile testis. There were no undescended testes in the physical examination of 69 patients.

Conclusion:

USG is considered as a noninvasive easy-to-use imaging modality, and we think that the child's mildness during the ultrasonographic examination of our study findings, low room temperature or cold gel may lead to accidental undescended testis.
